Former New Mexico Cabinet Secretary Joins Freedom to Roam
DENVER (February 9, 2010) – Joanna Prukop, former cabinet secretary of Gov. Bill Richardson’s Energy, Mineral and Natural Resources Department, has joined Freedom to Roam as Director of the organization’s Business for Wildlife Initiative.
Prukop holds a B.S. in Wildlife Science from Texas A&M and Master of Science from Colorado State University. Part of Gov. Richardson’s cabinet since 2003, she has administered programs in oil conservation, mining and minerals, state forestry, state parks, and energy conservation and management, with administrative oversight for New Mexico’s Youth Conservation Corps, Waste Isolation Pilot Project Transportation Task Force and Department of Game and Fish. Prukop also successfully testified before USDA Forest Service committee on the Roadless Rule to gain acceptance of New Mexico’s preferred approach to protecting existing and additional roadless areas.
